Ffald-y-Brenin Retreat Weekend 23rd – 25th September 2011
Once again this year the pilgrimage to Fald-y-brenin a christian retreatin West Wales was eagerly attended by a variety of member of our Church family. Groups arrived throughout the Friday afternoon. We arrived at roughly five o’clock, just in time to unpack before supper. In the evening the adults went to the beehive chapel to pray.
On the Saturday morning we went and had a prayer service in the prayer room. After the morning service we all went off for guided sessions. The theme of the whole weekend was Journeys, so the sessions were related with Journeys. In the Adults session they told each other stories about themselves that the other adults in the room would not have known. In the children’s sessions we split up in to two groups; a group of the three oldest children there, and all the other children were in another group. In the older group we did a quiz to find out what our strengths and weaknesses are, and in the younger group they drew pictures of happy, sad and angry feet and decorated and coloured them in.
On Saturday afternoon everyone could do anything. Some people chose to pray, others chose to go on walks, the more intrepid went on a long walk around the coast ended up at the beach, but some of the girls stayed behind to do beading, play games and go on a very muddy walk around the centre! After the evening meal the adults had a sing along and the children watched a film.
On Sunday we had guided sessions in which we made clay feet, before going to the morning worship. It was lovely that a few visitors joined us for the morning service. After lunch we all departed for Cowbridge.
