PAUSE FOR THOUGHT AND FEEDBACK

"There are very few people who realise what God would make of them if they abandoned themselves into His hands, and let themselves be formed by His grace."   [St. Ignatius Loyola]

"May God bless you with discomfort
At easy answers, half-truths and superficial relationships
So that you may live deep within your heart.

May God bless you with anger
At injustice, oppression and exploitation of people,
So that you may work for justice, freedom and peace.

May God bless you with tears
To shed for those who suffer pain, rejection, hunger and war,
So that you may reach out your hand to comfort them
And turn their pain into joy.

And may God bless you with enough foolishness
To believe that you can make a difference in the world,
So that you can do what others claim cannot be done
To bring justice and kindness to all our children and the poor."
[A Franciscan Benediction]

HEATHER'S ORDINATION

Heather's Ordination at United Free Church Cowbridge took place on Sunday 11th July 2010 and was an incredible event.   The chapel was filled to the galleries with over 150 people.   There were those who have known Heather for many years, along with our church family and folk she has come to know during her 4 years in Cowbridge.   Also present were the Mayor and Mayoress of Cowbridge and Jane Hutt AM.

The service was led by Rev. Andy Hughes, Regional Minister of the South Wales Baptist Association and the address was given by Rev. Francis Miles.   Francis was Heather's parish priest some ten years ago and had travelled up from the West Country.

The Ordination included clergy and lay people laying on hands and praying for Heather.  There were statements from the church and local clergy, churches in Bridgend and St. Michael's Theological College, where Heather trained for ministry.

In true Welsh non-conformist style there was a lot of singing, contemporary worship songs and some old favourites all ably led by Tracey Collins, once a member of UFC, who had travelled up from Cornwall with her family.  Tracey was accompanied by our UFC Worship Band with Huw Williams on drums.   In addition  Ioan Wardhaugh [11] and Amelia Collins [11] enthralled us all with a beautiful harp duet.   The congregation created a full bodied, roof-raising sense of 'hwyl' and praise, and thanks go to everyone who made this very special occasion a deeply spiritual and love-filled event.
