MEDITATIONS
Light of the world,
bless all who are in darkness,
shine upon us in love.
Be with the despairing.
Support the depressed.
Comfort the suicidal.
Give us your hope,
give us your joy,
give us your peace.
Lighten our darkness
today and evermore, Amen.
--------------------------
We pray for all the bereaved, injured, traumatized, hungry and homeless in every part of our world, and pray for those trying to alleviate their distress.
-------------------------
The King of love my shepherd is,
Whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am His
And He is mine forever.
Where streams of living water flow
My ransomed soul He leadeth;
And where the verdant pastures grow
With food celestial feedeth.
Perverse and foolish oft I strayed;
But yet in love He sought me,
And on His shoulder gently laid,
And home rejoicing brought me.
In death's dark vale I fear no ill
With Thee, dear Lord, beside me;
Thy rod and staff my comfort still,
Thy cross before to guide me.
Thou spread'st a table in my sight;
Thy unction grace bestoweth;
And O what transport of delight
From Thy pure chalice floweth!
And so through all the length of days
Thy goodness faileth never;
Good Shephered, may I sing Thy praise
Within Thy house for ever.
Praise
I don't feel like praising You this morning Lord,
My child, what has feeling got to do with it?
But Lord, I have so many problems to face this day.
My child, are you breathing? Begin with that.
What do You mean Lord?
My child, praise me for the air you breathe, praise me for the ability to breathe.
Ok Lord, I'll begin with that.
Praise You Lord for the air around me and my ability to breathe.
My child, how do you feel now?
Lord, I feel a little better and I've just realised that it doesn't matter how I feel,
I can praise You because I have breath to praise You!
[Emma Wilcock - 'Together in Prayer']
---------------------------
I lay my head to rest
and in doing so
lay at your feet
the faces I have seen,
the voices I have heard,
the words I have spoken,
the hands I have shaken,
the service I have given,
the joys I have shared,
the sorrows revealed,
I lay them at your feet
and in doing so
lay my head to rest.
[Celtic prayer]
-----------------------
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us . . . . . . . we were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us;
it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
